What’s the Difference Between Dermal Filler and Botox Treatments?
One of the most common questions people ask us is whether it’s better to get botox or dermal fillers. Both treatments help to combat wrinkles, add volume and slow the ageing process of your skin. However, they are two very different treatments, and each process provides slightly different results.
Botox injections use a small amount of purified botulinum toxin and cause muscles in the face to be temporarily paralysed to reduce wrinkles, frown lines, forehead lines and other signs of ageing.
Dermal fillers, meanwhile, use substances such as Hyaluronic Acid, Calcium Hydroxylapatite, or Polylactic Acid. These substances add volume to the area, remove lines around the face, reduce the effects of scars, including acne scars and sun damage plus create more defined facial features.
Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
Cheek fillers and other types of dermal filler treatments are completely safe, provided they’re administered by an expert who has experience with this kind of treatment. At the Luxe clinic, our cheek filler treatments are carried out by Dr Qureshi. Dr Q is a leading cosmetic physician with over eight years of experience in aesthetic medicine.
Dermal fillers are a low-risk procedure with minimal recovery time. While the procedure itself is straightforward, there can be some side effects in rare cases. Occasionally, the client may experience some:
These will generally subside after a short period of time, although our team will be on hand to guide you through the recovery process. Some mild swelling and bruising are the most common side effects, but these generally won’t last long, and your face will soon be natural looking again.
If you have concerns about anything relating to dermal fillers, you can call us to speak to one of our experts here at the Luxe clinic. We provide the very best client care, including the procedure itself and the recovery period, to ensure that side effects are minimal.
In rare cases, an allergic reaction to the filler can occur, in which case, the client may experience the following side effects:
- Filler leakage
- Asymmetrical appearance
- Localised pain
These side effects are much more likely when dealing with an unlicensed clinic or inexperienced doctor, but here at Luxe Glasgow clinic, we take all the necessary precautions to ensure you get the very best treatment.
