Botox Glasgow

What is this and how can it help?

These refer to botulinum toxin injections with the main brand names being Botox, Azzalure and Bocouture. At our botox Glasgow Clinic: Luxe Skin we use all three brands of botulinum. Botulinum stops the muscle from contracting and therefore relaxes the skin in that area. The result is that lines that are caused by muscular contractions are softened. The creases that are formed in the skin by repeated muscular contractions also start to fade as the muscle is not reinforcing them. Some other uses of botulinum toxin are for reducing sweating in armpits, hands and feet.

What are the benefits of botox?

Botox provides a fast and effective method for reducing wrinkles. The effect is temporary which means any side effects are also temporary. The results are apparent in just 2 weeks. It can provide you with a refreshed look. Relaxing the frown muscles makes you appear pleasant and happy and can help with your emotional well-being. It can help correct facial asymmetry. It is a minimally invasive procedure with very little downtime which means that you do not need to take time off for recovery.

What are the side effects of botox?

The side effects arise when Botox trickles into adjacent muscles and causes them to relax. This results in unwanted results. For example it may trickle into the eyebrow or eyelid muscle causing them to relax which results in a droop. It may track into the cheek muscle when injected into the crows’ feet or bunny lines area resulting in a facial droop. Since only a small amount track to the unwanted areas, the problem usually settles within 4 weeks. Any side effect is temporary with full recovery achievable in a maximum of 3 months.

The other minor side effects are due to the injecting needle which can cause bruising and swelling.

What is the downtime with botox?

The recovery time after Botox injection is usually 2 weeks. Although Botox can start working within 5 days, it can take up to 2 weeks for the full effect to occur. Any bruising from the injection should also settle by this time.

How long does botox last?

The result from Botox lasts between 3-6 months. It depends on how strong your muscles are and how fast your body is at breaking down the botulinum. It will wear off gradually with full movement back in 6 months’ time.

How much does botox cost?

Botox treatment is often prices per area where each area refers to a group of muscles. Most commonly treated areas are frown, forehead and crows’ feet. At Luxe Skin, 1 area costs £175, 2 areas are £250 and 3 areas are £325.

Botox vs. Fillers

Botox and fillers are used for different reasons. Botox is good for relaxing muscles so is ideal for treating active lines. These are lines that occur when the muscles are moving. Such as forehead lines, frown lines, crows feet etc. You don’t want to use Botox where you wants the muscle to keep active such as on the cheeks. You need the cheek muscles to keep moving as they are needed for facial expressions. Hence Botox is not useful for use here.

Fillers are a gel that bind to the skin and add volume. They also stimulate collagen to strength the skin. They are great at filling lines caused by skin that has lost volume. They are also great at enhancing areas such as cheek and lips. By placing fillers in areas where the face has lost fat, the face can be lifted and folds reduced.

"I love the result"

The hollows under my eyes used to get me down but I was scared to get anything done. Doctor Q explained the procedure to me. He showed me before and after pictures of what it would look like. And I love the result. I wish I would have got this done much sooner.
