Non Surgical Facelift

What is this and how can it help?

A non-surgical facelift can be done using threads, known as a thread lift, or dermal fillers often called a liquid facelift. Quite often dermal fillers and threads can be combined in one procedure producing remarkable results. This is a complete non-surgical facelift.

This procedure involves injecting local anaesthetic to numb the whole face. Then either absorbable or permanent threads are placed on each side lifting the cheeks, jowls and chin. The permanent threads produce a higher degree of lift than absorbable threads. The threads are then tightened and cut flush with the skin. The next step to use dermal fillers to add volume to hollow areas of the face such as under the eyes, cheeks, smokers’ lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, smokers’ lines and chin creases. Filler is also used to contour the cheeks and jaw. 8ml of juvederm volux, voluma, volift and volbella fillers are used.

What are the benefits of a full non-surgical facelift?

The non-surgical facelift aims to correct the following:

  • Lift jowls and facial sagging
  • Reduce double chin
  • Reduce under eye hollows
  • Contour the cheeks
  • Fill cheek hollowness
  • Rejuvenate the lips
  • Contouring the jaw angle and jawline
  • Reduce nose to mouth folds

The result of correcting the above issues is that you look:

  • More young
  • More contoured
  • Less tired
  • Less saggy
  • Less angry
  • Less sad

What are the side effects of a non-surgical facelift?

These are the same as those for dermal fillers and thread lift. Its mostly redness, swelling, bruising and some skin dimpling. This is self-limiting and settles within a few days [put clickable links to the dermal fillers and threadlift pages]

What is the downtime with a non-surgical facelift?

Up to 2 weeks for the redness, bruising, swelling and skin dimpling to resolve making this a great alternative to surgery. However, most people do not take time off work and if the procedure is done on a Friday, they usually return to work after the weekend.

How long do results from a full non-surgical facelift last?

A full non-surgical facelift combines dermal fillers and threads. A good quantity of premium Juvederm dermal fillers is used. These are the longest lasting fillers on the market with results staying for 18-24 months. The absorbable threads last up to 1.5 years and permanent threads lasting beyond 3 years. So the results from a full non-surgical facelift can last 2-4 years costing around £3k-£4k. Compare this to a surgical facelift which is more high risk and costs around £8k and results last around 5-6 years.

Non-Surgical v Surgical facelift?

A surgical facelift involves pulling the underlying structures and remove the excess skin. The lifted tissues are then anchored into place. Results from a surgical facelift will last 5-6 years. However, any surgical procedure is associated with a higher level of risk. There is the risk associated with anaesthesia and then the procedure itself. Risks include asymmetry, infection, nerve injury and scarring. The risk of general anaesthesia is confusion, memory loss, waking up during surgery, injury to throat and mouth and carries a fatality risk of 1 in 100,000. The recovery time is 6-8 weeks and most people will need to take time off work. Cost of a surgical facelift in the UK is around £8000.

A non-surgical facelift produces a great result in mild to moderate facial sagging. The side effects and risks are listed above. The procedure is done in around 2 hours and recovery time does not require taking time off work. Results last up to 2-4 years with no risks of anaesthesia or surgery. Cost is between £3000-£4000.
